and using smb… SLOW and connection not secure. i don’t like using NFS cause any one can replicate my ip address and gain access to my drobo, as well, the connection is not secure. The dropbear suite provides both an ssh server and a client application (dbclient), and represents a light alternative to OpenSSH.Since it has a small footprint and uses system resources very well, it is generally used on embed devices, with limited memory and processing power (e.g routers or embed devices), where optimization is a key factor. Why i want this, basically just a secure way to connect and browse the files on my drobo. i can connect to a smb share and connect fine. what does work, i can ssh as root through the terminal and connect fine. looking at the drobo logs, it shows “root attempted, failed, tried another user, failed”. give reputation to your fellow members, get your own private messenger. Enter file in which to save the key (/home/sparks/.ssh/idrsa): Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase): Enter same passphrase again: Your identification has been saved in /home/sparks/.ssh/idrsa. Secondly, if root access is the only way, has any one been able to use the GUI to SSH into their drobo? what i mean is, using Ubuntu (or other distro), use the “Connect to Server” command, and connect to the file system as root? every time i try, my connection is dropped. Autoscript akan secara otomatis menginstall Dropbear SSH, Webmin, OpenVPN. ssh -v localhost OpenSSH7.2p2 Ubuntu-4ubuntu2.10, OpenSSL 1.0.2g ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 4096 Generating public/private rsa key pair. This script (and all directories leading to the script) must be owned by root. Has any one been able to ssh into their drobo as a user they created through the dashboard? I did some searching through the forums and noticed others have problems with accounts they created through root and those accounts being erased upon reboot. Authorized keys can be provided through a script owned by root A continuation of the point above, but in order to enable OpenSSH to verify a key, a script can be provided.

I installed the Dropbear SSH app and have been able to login as root and change (and retain the changed) password. Okay… been using the droboFS for a while… love the simplicity…
